Implats announces results 26th August 2005
Platinum producer Implats has announced a five per cent increase in headline platinum production for the year ended June 30 2005.
Pushing its headline platinum production up to a record 1.815 million ounces, the company also revealed a headline net profit of R2.86 billion, representing a nine per cent year-on-year increase.
Overall, Implats managed to achieve a net profit of R5.2 billion, which was up by a massive 78 per cent on the previous year, and the firm also saw a six per cent growth in sales revenues.
Keith Rumble, chief executive, commented: "A particularly pleasing part of our performance has been a steady increase in earnings, despite the continued pressure of the rand."
The group also achieved a record group safety performance, and Mr Rumble added: "The 2005 financial year was characterised by excellent safety and operational performances."
Implats announced a deal in July to see it earn a 60 per cent interest in its Highbank Lake platinum-palladium property.
