Impala extends BEE deal date 2nd March 2007
Impala Platinum has extended the date of fulfilment of the conditions relating to the finalisation of the Royal Bafokeng Nation (RBN) black economic empowerment (BEE) deal.
The company has postponed the effective date of the transaction by another week, to around March 7th, as it looks to align the tax and accounting issues that are currently outstanding.
In a note to shareholders, the platinum miner confirmed: "The framework agreement remains conditional, but it is anticipated that the effective date will occur not later than March 7th, 2007."
The move comes after the company announced in December that it had agreed with RBN to delay the finalising of the deal until February 28th, but that deadline has since been extended as Impala looks to make sure it is prepared for the R12.1 billion deal.
