Honda unveils fuel cell concept car 10th October 2007

Honda is to unveil a brand new hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The PUYO features an eye-catching "cornerless, seamless Soft Box" design, which the manufacturers claim gives it the look of "an adorable pet".

Meanwhile, the use of a gel body made of soft materials enhances safety, says Honda, while lights affixed to the underside of the car highlight its working parts to notify drivers of the condition of the vehicle.

Just as innovative are the interior features, such as an instrument panel monitor, which rises when the car is started, luminous fluid displays and a video game-style joystick in place of a steering wheel.

Honda will also use the high-profile trade expo to launch its new CR-Z model - a lightweight sports car with a sleek design far removed from the often bulky and function-led approach to the appearance of existing hybrid vehicles.

Employing IMA hybrid technology to improve its engine's power output through electric motors at times when greater acceleration is needed, the car offers the benefits of both efficient fuel consumption and low emissions.

The two cars are among 18 other vehicles Honda will exhibit at the show, which takes place from October 27th to November 11th 2007 at Makhuri Messe in Chiba, Japan.
