A Japanese collector has purchased a diamond-studded, platinum doll worth US$100,000, AFP reports.

The 4.1cm Hello Kitty figurine was fashioned to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the popular brand.

The 'Queen' Hello Kitty platinum effigy boasts a crown adorned with more than 200 tiny diamonds and a staff with a 0.753-carat pink diamond.

Hello Kitty products are sold in around 60 countries worldwide.
