Havenstein to leave Anglo Platinum 30th July 2007
Anglo Platinum Chief Executive Officer Ralph Havenstein has announced he is to leave the company at the end of August.
Mr Havenstein's resignation marks the end of his four-year stewardship of the company.
While the firm seeks a permanent replacement, his role will be filled on an interim-basis by Norman Mbazima, Anglo's Finance Director, and Duncan Wanblad, Director of Projects and Engineering.
Commenting on his decision, Mr Havenstein said: "I believe that I have personally contributed a lot to bringing Angloplat to the point where it is now, but I also believe that Angloplat needs new leadership, with new insights to achieve especially the safety goals."
News of Mr Havenstein's departure comes as the firm today announced that its first-half profit was up 47 per cent.
However, the improved performance was tempered by recent bouts of industrial action and a safety review which have impaired output at Anglo's mining operations.
