The 48th Grammy Awards was attended by some of the biggest names in the music world, with many choosing to accessorise with platinum.

Stars at the annual ceremony held in Los Angeles earlier this week included Sheryl Crow, who sparkled with $564,000 worth of platinum jewellery, and Kanye West, sporting a pair of Neil Lane platinum, onyx and diamond cufflinks.

Sheryl chose the platinum and diamond inspired jewellery of Martin Katz, decorating herself with necklace, ring, earrings and bracelet.

Grammy award winning songstress Mariah Carey added a bit of glitz to her performance with platinum and pink diamond earrings and cocktail ring by Neil Lane.

Platinum was also the jewellery of choice for Alicia Keys, who presented an award wearing a bracelet, earrings and eternity band, all from Sol Rafael, worth $1.6 million.

Other guests from the musical world such as Jessica Simpson and Mary J Blige set off rumours of a new style trend as they all sported large gemstones set in platinum, sure to be a popular choice with fellow celebrities.
