Global Electronics Recovery announces e-waste agreement 11th December 2006
Electronic waste recycling group Global Electronics Recovery (GER) has announced a major deal to become the exclusive US agent for Singapore's e-waste processor, Cimelia.
The announcement will see GER taking control of the recovery and refining of platinum group metals (pgm's) and the manufacturing of pgm by-products when processing electronic waste in the US.
GER's smelting operations are designed to recover pgm's and their by-products from e-waste and also properly process toxins and hazardous waste which exist in e-waste, such as cadmium and mercury.
Welcoming the deal, Cimelia's Director for Business Development, Mohamed Gani Mohamed Ansari, commented: "We believe that the GER management team has the right mix of experience in the industry combined with the ability to implement an aggressive growth strategy, including the acquisition of complementary companies."
Mr Ansari added: "This fits our needs and we are therefore very optimistic about the growth that we can achieve together."
GER founder, David Smith, said: "[Cimelia's] plant uses very innovative technology, and we are convinced that they will remain at the forefront of deploying the best possible technology in the processing of e-waste."
