Germany poised to build hydrogen fuel station infrastructure 14th March 2005
German chemical corporation Linde has announced plans to build a network of 35 hydrogen fuel stations across Germany.
The company will invest an estimated 30 million in 35 stations that will supply liquid and gas hydrogen.
The 1800-metre long network of hydrogen stations will connect industrial centres including Leipzig, Berlin, Hanover, Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich.
Dr Wolfgang Reitzle, president and CEO of Linde AG, commented: "This hydrogen highway is an opportunity to strengthen and reposition Germany as a place for innovation because with it we can take the role of innovator in a key technology.
"Engineers have overcome fundamental technical challenges in connection with hydrogen during the past few years."
Linde also has intentions of building hydrogen stations in other European countries, according to Bellona.
