Fuel cell order for Asian telecom market 25th July 2006
Canadian hydrogen and fuel cell systems group Hydrogenics has announced that it has received a new order for three power modules from a leading Asian telecoms company.
The order concerns three HyPM XR 12kW Fuel Cell Power Modules (FCPM) that will be integrated into a 48 volt DC back-up power application by the mobile telecoms firm.
The rack mountable integration-ready power generators simply require hydrogen fuel to produce "consistent and abundant" DC electrical power with no harmful emissions.
Pierre Rivard, Hydrogenics president and chief executive, commented: "This new order demonstrates the growing interest in fuel cells for backup power applications in the mobile telecom market and Hydrogenics' HyPM power products specifically. The reliability of the HyPM XR series provides telecom end users with the confidence to explore this robust technology in the growing mobile backup power market."
Hydrogenics also revealed recently that its HyPM Fuel Cell Power Pack (FCPP) is being integrated into a Japanese OEM Class 1 forklift as a replacement for traditional battery technology. The FCPP uses the company's HyPM 12 Fuel Cell Power Module and is designed to fit within an existing battery pack compartment.
Based in Ontario, Canada, Hydrogenics develops clean energy solutions and hydrogen and fuel cell products. The company has operations in North America, Europe and Asia.
