Ford unveils coated diesel particulate filter 24th October 2007

Automotive company Ford has announced the launch of a new coated diesel particulate filter (cDPF) for its Transit vans.

The filter is now available on FWD 2.2-litre 85PS and RWD 2.4-litre 100PS and retails at a cost of from £850.

When cDPFs are specified, the RWD 2.4-litre 100PS offers six speed transmission and Ford explains that for this effect, two different technologies are required.

Models with front-wheel drive will be equipped with a standard diesel oxidisation catalyst in conjunction with a regenerative DPF, however Ford's Transits with rear-wheel drive will use a brand new technology.

Ford reveals that the rear-wheel drive vehicles will be fitted with an in-exhaust fuel vaporisation system that is used to regenerate the DPF.
