Fashion show debuts $500,000 platinum wedding dress 24th September 2009
A unique platinum wedding gown worth $500,000 (£308,746) was unveiled at a prestigious runway fashion show in New York on Tuesday (22nd September).
The dress, designed by leading wedding planner David Tutera and prominent jewellery designer Erica Courtney, was the star attraction of the extravaganza at Gotham Hall.
Part of the 'David Tutera by Faviana' collection, the gown features a platinum-coloured tulle veil and bouquet and is decorated with ten feet worth of platinum chains.
In addition, it boasts 33 carats of diamonds, 145.84 carats of aquamarine and white keshi pearls, and is completed by a white south sea pearl pendant suspended from platinum.
"I wanted the final dress to be truly awe-inspiring to capture the inspiration and excitement every bride should feel," said Mr Tutera.
"Platinum is simply the best. It is enduring, timeless and classic, and it's fantastic for wedding jewellery. It's the perfect symbol for an everlasting marriage."
The dress can be purchased from the Michael C Fina store at 545 Fifth Avenue in New York, while private viewing appointments are also available.
