Prophecy Platinum confirms continuity between East and West zone at Wellgreen (26/09/11)
Prophecy Platinum has confirmed the continuity between the East and West zones at its Wellgreen property in the south-west Yukon, Canada.
Assays from hole WS11-188 found 120.91 metres grading 1.26 g/t 4E platinum group metals. The hole also showed 3.14 g/t 4E pgm over 17.38 metres.
The firm also said it is progressing on schedule with the preliminary economic assessment for the Wellgreen property, which will update the mineral resource and open-pit design, as well as pinpoint the optimum mining rate and estimate costs.
Premium Exploration Reviews Chrome Mountain PGM+Cu+Ni Property, Montana, USA (27/09/11)
Premium Exploration Inc has initiated a property review of its Chrome Mountain Platinum Group Metals Project located within the Stillwater Complex, Montana.
The company now enjoys full ownership of Chrome Mountain after the expiry of a joint venture with its previous partner Beartooth Platinum Corp.
"In light of a strong long-term outlook for platinum, palladium, rhodium, and base metals, Premium is re-evaluating the Chrome Mountain Property and reviewing strategic alternatives for optimising shareholder value," the firm said.
The review will include examining the claim status, drilling plans and a "limited" programme of geological mapping, prospecting, and soil sampling.
Rainy River Resources Ltd. Reports Platinum and Palladium Values at Pinewood South (29/09/11)
Rainy River Resources has announced the platinum and palladium assay results from the new nickel discovery at its Rainy River Gold Project.
Assay results from hole NR11822 include 2.01 g/t platinum and 6.43 g/t palladium over 2.35 metres.
The firm's president and chief executive officer, Raymond Threlkeld, said: "The inclusion of significant platinum and palladium values enhances its overall potential value."
He added: "We believe we are in a mineral-rich district as evidenced by this recent discovery. Our plan is to continue with an aggressive exploration campaign targeting highly prospective areas."
Mining production down in August (13/10/11)
Mining production in South Africa fell 3.4 per cent year-on-year in August following a five per cent decline in July.
Platinum group metals were among the main sufferers, contributing 2.8 percentage points to the fall.
However, the actual value of mineral sales at current prices for the three months to the end of July rose 14.7 per cent compared to the same period in 2010.
Pgms contributed 3.4 percentage points, or R2.7 billion to the gain.
Excellent Drill Results Continue at Pacific North West Capital's River Valley Platinum Group Metals Project, Sudbury, Ontario (13/10/11)
Pacific North West Capital Corp announced assay results from five more drill holes in the 2011 Phase IB Exploration programme at its River Valley platinum group metals (pgm) and gold property near Sudbury, Ontario.
Highlights included 2.47 g/t palladium, platinum and gold over 35 metres in hole DN021 (Dana North), 2.57 g/t over 35 metres in hole DN022 and 3.18 g/t over 42 metres in hole DN023.
The drilling also found 2.88 g/t over 12 metres in hole DN024.
"Results of infill drilling at Dana North have been successful at confirming the nature of the mineralisation, with the majority of holes returning higher than anticipated pgm grades," the firm said in a statement.
