Last Sunday's 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards showcased the popularity of platinum jewelry among the stars.

The awards, which celebrate the achievements of actors and shows on the small screen, were also a celebration of the finest in platinum collections.

Many of those wearing platinum had attended the Platinum Guild International USA's (PGI-USA) Emmy Awards Red Carpet Jewelry Preview, where they could help themselves to $14 million dollars worth of platinum jewelry for the big night only.

Actresses such as Jane Kaczmarek from Malcolm in the Middle and Debra Messing of Will & Grace fame jumped at the chance to wear the jewelry.

Meanwhile, stars such as Lisa Kudrow, who wore a Chopard platinum bracelet and Jennifer Love Hewitt, with her Harry Winston collection, brought their own.

Michael O'Connor, the senior vice president of PGI-USA, commented: "A-listers choose platinum jewelry because it holds their gemstones more securely than any other metal and makes their diamonds sparkle from afar."

A number of TV stars also opted for platinum trinkets, with Judy Reyes and Daphne Zuniga looking great in their platinum toe rings.
