Eastplats resumes production at Crocodile River Mine 16th November 2011
Eastern Platinum (Eastplats) has resumed full production at its Crocodile River Mine (CRM) in South Africa, following an investigation into an accident that halted operations there earlier this month.
Work was stopped when a Section 54 Stop Work Order was issued by the Development of Mineral Resources after a worker was killed on November 7th.
Eastplats said the order has been lifted following a "thorough investigation" and, as of Monday November 15th, full production resumed at both the Maroelabult and Zandfontein sections of CRM.
The miner gave no details of how much platinum production was lost as a result of the stoppage.
However, last month the firm reported a 29 per cent drop in third-quarter output from the mine to 26,955 platinum group metal ounces.
