Eastern Platinum's Crocodile River Mine back to full production after strike 27th October 2011
Eastern Platinum (Eastplats) has said production at its Crocodile River Mine (CRM) is back to normal after strike action ended yesterday (October 26th).
The firm said a dispute between the National Union of Mineworkers and JIC Mining Services has been resolved and most of the employees have returned to work.
Eastplats previously stated that the industrial action had cut production at the mine by 50 per cent, or around 210 platinum group metals ounces per day.
"The majority of the 756 JIC employees working at the Crocodile River Mine have returned to work ... Eastplats expects full production at CRM to resume as from that date," the miner said in a statement.
Eastplats also said director John Andrews and chief executive officer Ian Rozier will be spending "substantially more time" at the mine and in Johannesburg respectively, until a replacement is selected for Wayne Robinson, who recently announced his resignation as managing director of Barplats Mines.
