Eastern Platinum announces further mine development 19th September 2007
Eastern Platinum has announced it is to carry out further development at its Crocodile River operation.
The platinum mining junior has revealed it is to begin mine development at the Crocette section of its Crocodile River mine during the final quarter of this year, with a view to delivering full production at the site within two years.
Chief Executive Ian Rozier said that the Crocette section should be up to full capacity by the end of 2009, delivering up to 40,000 tonnes per million (t/m) of ore.
He added that such production levels would take the overall production at Eastern Platinum's Crocodile River operation to 200,000 t/m of ore.
The Crocette section contains both UG2 and Merensky reefs and Mr Rozier described this latest development as "another indicator" of the company's commitment to "growing platinum group metals production in South Africa".
