DTI delivers financial backing for UK fuel cell industry 17th January 2005
The DTI is to contribute £3 million in funding specifically for fuel cell and hydrogen technology, reports Fuel Cell Today.
Ceres Power, a product development company developing low-cost fuel cells, will receive a grant of £1.92 million.
Johnson Matthey, a manufacturer of pollution control systems, catalysts and components for fuel cells, will receive £490,000 towards membranes for fuel cells.
Finally Civic Environmental Systems, which produces composting systems for waste treatment, will receive £620,000 for sustainable hydrogen production from biomass waste.
Research into New and Renewable Energy Technologies will receive an overall total of £9 million towards 17 projects.
This follows recent news that the DTI is to contribute £60 million in funding overall to areas critical to driving forward innovation and boosting the economy in the UK.
