Dow Corning to unveil lower-platinum release coatings 24th August 2009

Dow Corning will unveil a range of ultra low-platinum release coating systems at the upcoming Labelexpo Europe event, it emerged on Friday (21st August).

According to a report by labelsandlabeling.com, the company will showcase improvements to its Syl-Off Advantage Series plus its new Syl-Off Advantage Emulsion Release Coating System.

The latest inclusions to the former - which are used by 80 coaters in 25 countries - require less platinum than before and offer the chance to use a wider spectrum of substrates.

In addition, the latter features reduced coat weight, plus low platinum levels and temperature cure, while also providing application flexibility, high line speeds and flat release.

Also among the developments on show will be a new Syl-Off solvent-free silicone release coating system, which offers long-term anchorage to both primed and unprimed polyester films.

"It is specially designed for filmic pressure sensitive laminate/labelstock, single and double-sided industrial polyester release films and for liners of polyester technical adhesive tapes," notes the news provider.

Dow Corning is also set to demonstrate its Syl-Off thermal-cure release coatings, which were developed specifically for filmic substrates.
