Clean Diesel Technologies in European move 20th February 2006
New clean fuel technology is to be made available in Europe that will allow older trucks and buses to reduce harmful NOx emissions.
American technology provider Clean Diesel Technologies is introducing integrated urea dosing units in Europe to work alongside existing Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems (SCR), the company announced on February 16th.
SCR systems are widely used by truck and bus manufacturers in order to comply with European NOx emission reduction requirements.
They work by spraying ammonia – via an aqueous urea system – into the exhaust gases, which has the effect of converting polluting oxides of nitrogen into harmless nitrogen and water vapour.
Clean Diesel's urea dosing unit is the first fully integrated airless urea-injection tool available in Europe. It is targeted at retrofit and original equipment automotive markets across the continent.
Tim Rogers, executive vice president of Clean Diesel International, said: "Clean Diesel's airless dosing unit paves the way to retrofit a large number of older trucks and buses, allowing them to achieve significant reductions in NOx emissions.
"This in turn will provide benefits to vehicle operators and the air quality in urban areas alike."
