Citroen takes top green award 19th October 2006
French car manufacturer Citroen has been named the green automaker of the year as it continues to implement new technologies to reduce emissions levels.
Organised by GreenFleet magazine, the event celebrates manufacturers which seek to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.
Citroen beat off competition from prominent hybrid manufacturers Toyota, which came second, and Honda, both of which were praised for their efforts to tackle emissions with new technologies.
Catalysts containing pgms are being increasingly utilised by car manufacturers as a way to reduce emissions, particularly in hybrid and diesel vehicles.
"Citroen's policy of developing and marketing environmentally-friendly cars that are both practical and affordable played a major part in the company winning the GreenFleet Car Manufacturer of the Year Award," commented Sarah Cowell, editor of GreenFleet magazine.
