Canadian company unveils zero emission vehicle design 9th May 2003
A Canadian company has today (May 9th) announced that it will showcase a zero emission car at the Tour De Sol car rally.
Electrovaya says the vehicle will be powered by its patented Lithium Ion 'SuperPolymer' technology, which could prove to be a new alternative for reducing emissions in the automotive sector.
According to the makers it is 'fundamentally a more advanced technology than hydrogen powered fuel cell cars', which they estimate can be brought to the market both quickly and cheaply.
Dr Sankar Das Gupta, who has helped develop the technology, said that the car was designed to meet the growing market expectation for 'Clean Urban Transportation'.
Electrovaya says it is aiming to become the leading provider of portable power for the notebook computer and wireless sectors, and to apply its technology to a broad spectrum of alternative energy applications.
The main focus of this drive, and the initial target, will be the automotive sector.
