Canada to see diesel surge 6th September 2005
Canada is set for a large uptake in diesel-powered vehicles, it has been claimed.
According to reports from the Canadian Press, analysts are becoming increasingly confident that North American drivers could be preparing to turn to diesel-powered cars and light trucks in place of petrol-powered vehicles.
New technology which is making them as convenient to manage as petrol vehicles, together with rising fuel prices mean that more people in Canada are now looking to diesel vehicles.
Diesel catalytic converters also mean that the fuel is now cleaner than ever, which is also an important factor for many motorists in considering what type of vehicle to purchase.
"Diesel is one of the fastest growing segments in the Canadian vehicle market," Dennis DesRosiers, a Toronto-based consultant, explains.
However, while the market may be continuing to grow in North America, a recent report from Wood Mackenzie has suggested that Europe could be hit by a substantial diesel shortage by 2015.
That deficit would only be exacerbated by increased demand in the North American car market.
