Bosch launches new platinum spark plug 5th January 2007
Bosch has announced the launch of a new platinum spark plug to add to its premium spark plug family.
Bosch Platinum Iridium Ir Fusion is the latest spark plug to be launched by Bosch and combines an iridium and platinum centre electrode with Bosch's air-gap technology.
The spark plug has yttrium-enhanced ground electrodes which Bosch claims provide excellent performance life, with ground electrode durability improvement of up to 87 per cent when compared with nickel chromium.
Martin Kashnowski, Director of Product Management at Bosch's Consumer Products division said: "Our durability tests confirm that the reduced gap wear of the Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion lowers the voltage requirement on the ignition system, yielding better, more consistent performance and longer service life."
Bosch states that the new spark plug is available for "virtually all" makes and models, meaning it is available to a wide large portion of the market.
Mr Kashnowski commented that demand in the premium spark plug sector has been "growing steadily" in recent times.
