Billionaire trumpets $1.5m platinum ring 10th January 2005

Famed entrepreneur Donald Trump is putting the finishing touches to his wedding plans, with a costly platinum ring living up to the billionaire's reputation for lavish gifts.

The 58-year old is marrying Slovenian model Melania Knauss in what is rapidly becoming a star-studded affair.

More than 500 guests from the world of showbiz and big business will descend on Palm Beach for the ceremony, before retiring to Mr Trump's own mansion for the reception.

The wedding has been meticulously planned, with the $1.5 million, 13-carat platinum ring underlining what will be a glamorous affair.

Designed by jeweller Tony Graff, the emerald laden piece is a gift from the firm, which has had its products showcased on Trump's hit reality TV show The Apprentice.

Guests at the wedding are likely to include royalty such as Prince Charles and Prince Albert of Monaco, figures from the music world such as Sean 'Puffy' Combs, as well as Hollywood heavyweights including Michael Douglas, Bruce Willis and Clint Eastwood.
