Barplats to boost platinum production 9th October 2006
Platinum junior Barplats has announced plans to develop its production capacity to over 350,000 pgms per year.
The firm has revealed that it has begun an organic growth programme which will make it one of the fastest growing junior platinum miners in South Africa.
Chairman of the company, Ian Rozier, explained to Mining Weekly that there is now significant opportunity for growth at its Kennedy Vale operation.
He commented: "The size of the resource-ounce base at the Kennedy’s Vale project provides organic growth opportunities for the next 30 years."
Barplats managing director Wayne Robinson added that the firm has made significant progress thanks to its restart of the decline development at its Crocodile River mine.
