Aston Martin platinum concept phone unveiled 30th March 2011
British luxury car maker Aston Martin has teamed up with Canadian firm Mobiado to produce a concept phone made from platinum.
Unveiled at the BaselWorld luxury watch and jewellery event in Switzerland, the CPT002 Aston Martin Concept Phone is made from a solid piece of transparent sapphire crystal with platinum sides.
The battery, electronics and SIM card are all built into these platinum sides, while the phone integrates with Aston Martin cars to unlock and lock doors.
Users can even let the phone tap into the car's GPS satellite navigation system and wirelessly connect the vehicle to social media sites.
The transparent touchscreen boasts all the usual Android features that come with standard smartphones.
Although the CPT002 is currently on show in Basel, Mobiado has no plans to see the prototype device go into full production in the short-term.
The Canadian firm will, however, launch a range of Aston Martin phones in May.
