Aquarius sees pgm production hit record heights 29th January 2004
Aquarius Platinum has revealed that it has hit record production at its Kroondal mine, as the platinum outfit unveiled details of its latest quarterly report.
Production at the mine increased by 3.7 per cent to reach a total output of 59,962 pgm ounces, establishing a new watermark for the site.
At the same time cash costs reduced by seven per cent, as the firm enjoyed a profitable period.
At the company's Marikana mine production also increased, soaring by 5.6 per cent to 25,229 pgm ozs.
Recoveries at the same site also continued to improve, rising from 50 per cent to 55 per cent.
However, at the Mimosa site the news was less encouraging, as production dipped by three per cent to 30,473 pgm ozs.
Meanwhile, the company also took the opportunity to unveil a new managing director, confirming the appointment of Gert Ackerman.
Aquarius says it is also now preparing to deliver the first stage of its Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) transaction with BEE investors, led by Savannah Resources.
