Aquarius Platinum confident on labour arrangements 9th August 2007
Aquarius Platinum's Chief Executive has insisted that the company is comfortable with its labour arrangements and is not looking to change the way it runs its mines.
The firm currently uses contractor miners to carry out its operations, but in its latest figures labour issues resulted in the company losing some 40,000 oz of platinum production over the past year.
Chief Executive Stuart Murray said that the company does not intend to change its arrangement with contract miners, however, despite the losses coming due to illegal strikes.
Speaking on a conference call following the publication of Aquarius Platinum's full-year results to June, Mr Murray said that the company's management had looked "long and hard" at the issue and decided to stay with its current model, Mining Weekly reports.
