Aquarius Platinum has announced a 19 per cent increase in its production levels for the year ended June 30th 2007, compared to the previous year.

The company revealed an output of 530,726 oz of platinum group metals (pgms), compared to 447,693 oz during 2006/07.

Production increased at all of Aquarius' mines, the firm said, apart from its Kroondal operations which saw output remain in line with its 2006 results.

Kroondal's new development at its K5 shaft will give the mine further output in the months ahead, while the firm's Marikana operations began underground production.

Strong increases were recorded at Aquarius Platinum's Everest mine, which continued its production ramp-up phase during the course of the year.

Net profit at Aquarius reached US$163 million, compared to $75 million for the previous year, the company announced.
