Aquarius keen on JSE listing 8th March 2004
Aquarius Platinum is set to list its share price on the Johannesburg bourse after the government moved to relax regulations governing the presence of offshore-based firms on the market.
Chief executive Stuart Murray said that the company had long held an interest on listing on the JSE and was unequivocal in his backing.
'Yes, we're definitely interested. We've already seen the JSE and now we await the regulations,' he told Mineweb.
Mr Murray also said listing on the JSE could help Aquarius to raise funds in the future: 'There will be benefits down the track if we ever needed to raise rand.'
The news follows a similar announcement earlier this week by Jubilee Platinum as a number of miners seek to secure a listing.
Chief executive Colin Bird said that Jubilee, which is already listed on London's Alternative Investment Market (AIM), is also considering a Johannesburg listing.
The ban on foreign firms listing on the JSE was relaxed last month when Trevor Manuel, South Africa's finance minister, announced details of the plans in his budget speech.
