Aquarius enjoys pgm production rise 28th April 2004

Aquarius has issued details of its third quarter performance for the 2004 financial year today, revealing that mine production at Kroondal has hit record levels.

The platinum miner said that production at Kroondal had hit 60,032 pgm ounces, with Aquarius' total attributable production of pgms now at 62,233 ounces for the period.

The rise in production means that total output for the nine months to the end of March is now 145,097 pgm ounces, a 25 per cent increase year on year.

With production at the Marikana mine down as a result of persistent rainfall - with an estimated 23 days lost - the figures point to a strong performance.

At Mimosa Aquarius also saw a dip in output, as mine production fell six per cent to 28,621 pgm ounces.

Meanwhile, the company also took the opportunity to announce that Sir William Purves and David Dix had joined the board as non-executive directors.
