Angloplats expects strong figures 19th January 2006

The world's leading platinum producer Angloplats has announced that it is expecting earnings per share (EPS) to increase significantly following strong metal prices.

A statement from the company has confirmed that it is forecasting a large increase in both EPS and headline EPS following the continued global demand for platinum. During 2005, platinum prices rose by 14 per cent and have increased a further eight per cent since the beginning of the year to a record-high of $1,049 per ounce.

Headline earnings per ordinary share are estimated to be between 60 per cent and 65 per cent higher, whilst earnings per ordinary share are expected to be between 77 per cent and 82 per cent higher than previous forecasts.

Original estimates put the headline earnings at 1120.6 cents per share and the EPS at 1077.8 cents.

Angloplats, which is largely owned by the mining firm Anglo American, is expected to publish its full annual results on February 13th.
