Angloplat sets a date for revised pgm production details 1st December 2003
Anglo Platinum (Angloplat) has confirmed it will be delivering the results of its new expansion program on December 4th.
The world's biggest platinum miner issued a statement revealing that it would give a full announcement on the company's plans, and put an end to speculation over whether it will cut its output target.
The majority of industry analysts say they expect the firm to cut its 2006 production target of 3.5 million ounces.
The impact of the strong rand and some regulatory problems with initiating new operations has seen the firm struggle to deliver the levels of pgms anticipated.
However, Angloplat representatives have until now continued to insist that the company is getting its operations back on track.
Angloplat produced 2.25 million ounces of primary platinum in 2002 and this year delivered a preliminary forecast production of 2.3 million ounces.
Thursday's announcement will be watched closely by the platinum industry, as uncertainty surrounding the firm's pgm data has already helped push up the spot price of platinum to a 23-year high.
