Angloplat reveals good start to 2005 1st April 2005

Angloplat has made a good start to 2005, with latest comments from the firm showing it remains on target.

The world's number one platinum miner says it is confident it can produce 2.6 million troy ounces of refined platinum, the greater part of which will be produced in the latter half of this year, I-Net Bridge reports.

According to CEO Ralph Havenstein, the demand for platinum across the globe continues to be robust and China's jewellery market and autocatalysts used for diesel vehicles in Europe, are two particularly positive areas.

In addition, the company believes this financial year could be a year of consolidation for the group.

Although first half costs are not quite on track, Mr Havenstein claimed cost targets for the full year should be in line, when he spoke at an investor conference call on Friday.

Capital expenditure is set to reach six billion rand and there is likely to be a global growth in demand for palladium.track
