Anglo Platinum's relocation programme continuing 7th June 2007
Anglo Platinum is pressing ahead with its relocation plans at its PPRust operations, the company's spokesman has confirmed.
It had been suggested that the South African government had stepped in to halt the programme, but Anglo Platinum spokesperson, Simon Tebele, insisted that such action had not been taken.
Although the relocation programme was due to begin last Tuesday, many local people were dissatisfied with the plans and blocked roads.
However, Mr Tebele insisted that negotiations with the local people were ongoing and the relocation plans would continue.
Adding that Minerals and Energy Minister, Buyelwa Sonjica, had not interfered, Mr Tebele said: "The Minister has never instructed Angloplat, or phoned anyone at AngloPlat to halt the relocations."
