AdvantaPure unveils platinum-cured silicone container closures 1st February 2010
Platinum features prominently in a new type of container closure being championed for pharmaceutical applications, it has been confirmed.
BioClosure Systems, which are being launched by AdvantaPure, can be used for flexible container systems, laboratory test tubes and bottles, and glass sampling or storage vessels.
The closures are manufactured from platinum-cured silicone elastomer and are capable of reducing cross-contamination risks, cleaning requirements and validation time and expenditure.
"BioClosure Systems offer a lot of advantages over similar parts made from rubber materials," said Michael Tangreti, Director of Marketing at AdvantaPure.
"The systems provide much higher purity, longer life and more consistent performance."
According to the company, the closures - which include offerings such as stoppers, caps and inserts - can operate at temperatures between -73.3C and 204.4C.
Manufactured in a Class 7, ISO-certified clean room, they are also free of aminal-derived ingredients and can fight against the prevalence of autoclaving or gamma irradiation.
AdvantaPure, which is a division of NewAge Industries, also currently designs platinum-cured silicone tubing and hoses.
