Hollywood stars rolled up to the red carpet at events from New York to Cannes over the last month wearing platinum jewellery.
Carey Mulligan selected platinum designs by Tiffany & Co for the world premiere of The Great Gatsby in New York on May 1st.
She followed this up by wearing a platinum and marquise diamond cluster bracelet and platinum and pear shaped diamond drop earrings worth over $1.1 million for the film's premiere in Cannes two weeks later.

Auto sales in Canada rose nine per cent in April thanks to strong demand for pickup trucks from US manufacturers.
Light truck sales, which include sport utility vehicles and minivans as well as pickups, accounted for 55% of the Canadian vehicle market in April, according to independent auto analyst Dennis DesRosiers.
Sales of light trucks rose 16% while passenger car sales rose by just one per cent.

Pacific North West Capital reported positive metallurgical test results for drill core composites from its 100% owned River Valley platinum group metal (pgm) deposit, near Sudbury in Ontario.
The company said the results demonstrate potential for a sulphide concentrator to effectively process River Valley deposit material.
Dr William Stone, president and chief operating officer, said the data showed "good metal recoveries from the River Valley pgm deposit".

Ballard Power Systems' production facility in Tijuana, Mexico manufactured a record 215 ElectraGen-ME fuel cell systems in Q1 2013.
David Whyte, Ballard's director of operations, said: "The record Q1 production level reflects the growing demand for fuel cell backup power systems and we believe that we have the potential to ramp up to 900 ElectraGen-ME systems per quarter at the plant."

Hollywood stars continue to select platinum jewellery for red carpet events, with the Blue Book event in New York witnessing a host of stars wearing examples by Tiffany & Co.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Carey Mulligan, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Michelle Williams wore a selection of platinum pieces by the famed jewellery house.

Sales of 660cc mini-cars in Japan jumped to a record high over the last financial year.
Car makers sold a record 1.57 million passenger vehicles of this size in the year ended March 31st, a rise of 23% from the previous year.
Combined sales of mini-trucks, mini-vans and passenger mini-cars were 1.97 million vehicles, up 16.8% from the prior year.

Canadian Platinum Corp announced the preliminary results of the recently completed Allen Lake Drill drilling programme.
"Drill Hole Koop1 tested a week DPEM/VTEM anomaly on the southern flank of the Allen Lake Magnetic Anomaly intersecting 243 m of fine to medium grained massive gabbro with an estimated magnetite content of 15%," the firm said.

French car sales fell 12% in February as the country's weak economy put pressure on showrooms.
Auto industry body CCFA said registrations dropped to 143,366 last month, with Ford leading the decline with a 33% dip in sales.
PSA Peugeot Citroen saw sales fall 16%, while Renault recorded an 11% drop.
