Palladium and platinum pieces scoop Vision Awards

6 March 2013

Palladium and platinum jewellery pieces were among the winners of the MJSA's Vision Awards.

Designers won awards in six categories: professional design excellence, gold distinction, platinum distinction, palladium distinction, laser distinction and custom design distinction.

Susan Drake from Spectrum Art & Jewelry won the platinum distinction prize for her Spanish Dancer ring in platinum with a fuchsia sapphire and micro-pavé diamonds.

Drake also shared the top award in the palladium distinction category with Ezra Satok-Wolman, Atelier Hg & Co. Inc.

Nghi Nguyen of NGHI Design was awarded the laser distinction award for the Hephaestus ring in palladium with a 150-carat rock crystal centre stone and reverse-set diamonds

"This year's MJSA Vision Awards illustrate an impressive commitment to jewellery making and design in the 21st century," said MJSA president and chief executive officer David Cochran.

"The winners' authoritative command of metals, gems and contemporary materials is matched by the imagination they demonstrated in creating their pieces."
