New collection of platinum watches launched online 9th October 2008
A new online collection of 27 platinum wristwatches has been launched by Platinum Guild International on their www.preciousplatinum.com website, it has been reported today (9th October).
The precious metal is regularly used to form cases and straps for watches which make use of complicated movements, while also offering a considerable aesthetic resonance.
The collection, known as 'Platinum Watches 2008', will feature a range of innovations from some of the world's top watch manufacturers, realised in limited edition platinum timepieces.
One such new design will be unveiled by Robert Greubel and Stephen Frosey, whose latest piece moves using four separate tourbillions linked to two independent regulating mechanisms.
The International Watch Company Schaffhausen (IWC) has also created a series of six platinum watches depicting momentous stages of its development to celebrate its 140th anniversary.
Platinum can be found in three different forms - pure, rare and eternal - and although the majority of jewellery is made from the former, the latter two are always highly sought after.
