Lonmin has boosted the attributable platinum resource at its Akanani project although the development of the project will depend on the power supply given by Eskom.
Brad Mills, the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, told Mining MX that he will not know whether Eskom can provide a sufficient amount of power to the project until next month.
He said that a clear picture would emerge when Eskom has completed its review of growth projects.
But until that point he said "no real certainty can be given around the provision of power by Eskom to growth projects".
When the review was finished Lonmin would be able to give a better estimate of construction dates and when the mine would come into production.
Mr Mills also said the Pandora project remained a "non-core" operation but said that the firm still maintained its commitment to the project.
