Leading platinum jewellers in India were recognised as winners of the Platinum Excellence Awards this month. The special function, which took place on April 22nd, saw the winners recognised for their excellence in design. Unidesign took the award for the Best Manufacturer for Excellence in Design as staff benefited from Platinum Guild International training.
The Bride Show Dubai revealed some unusual pieces of platinum jewellery in April. The show, which attracted 30,000 visitors, exhibited a vast array of pieces with ASA Professional Cosmetics introducing glamorous false nails. The hand crafted nail can be made with platinum and are embellished with precious stones, including diamonds. "The uniqueness of the product is that we make the nails as per the customer's request," said Alexandra Dokic of ASA Enterprises.
Tilda Swinton, Liv Tyler, Naomi Watts, Ellen Barkin and Venus Williams were just a few of the stars to show of their vintage Platinum jewellery by Fred Leighton in the last month. They appeared at The Metropolitan Museum Of Art Costume Institute Annual Gala in New York on May 5th. Tyler wore a platinum cuff bracelet from the 1940s with another bracelet from the 1930s.
Jacob & Co confirmed that they were the designers behind the $2.5 million platinum ring that Nick Cannon gave to celebrity girl friend Mariah Carey. The couple are reported to be getting married although Cannon has denied that the 17-carat platinum and pink diamond ring was the same model given to his former fiancée Selita Ebanks.
Cameron Diaz was the latest star to be seen wearing platinum jewellery last month when she was decked out in Neil Lane pieces for the premiere of her new movie, "What Happens in Vegas". Diamond and platinum hoop earrings and huge diamond and platinum ball ring were two of the original designs sported by the A-list celeb.
