North American Palladium produced 61,091 oz of palladium in the three months ending March 31st, a 22 per cent decrease compared to the same quarter a year ago.
Announcing the production results for the quarter a statement from the firm said: "Production guidance of 300,000 oz of palladium in 2008 is reaffirmed."
The figures for March show a decrease of 61,091 oz of palladium compared to the same quarter of 2007 with mill availability at 89.5 per cent compared to 94.5 per cent in the same period last year.
North American Palladium's underground mine continued to deliver consistent results with 2,093 tonnes of ore per day at a palladium head grade of 5.66 g/t.
Jim Excell, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: "While our first quarter production results were lower than the same period last year, this was not unexpected.
"The decrease in production over the first quarter of 2007 primarily reflects our mine plan, which anticipated processing lower grade ore from the open pit," he added.
