Platinum jewellery the focus of new competition 17th April 2008

Platinum Guild International has announced a new style challenge and contest at North America's premier jewellery event, on May 28th.

The Couture event will host the competition that will see manufacturers display their most distinguished pieces of platinum jewellery.

Manufacturers can enter pieces for everyday wear, celebrity award show, pieces featuring coloured gems as well as bridal jewellery.

Editors of top fashion publications as well as trade industry figures will judge the competition with each manufacturer receiving a special plaque to put in a shop window.

"PGI and Couture are proud of this partnership and looking forward to bringing a fresh element to this year's event. We designed this contest to provide visibility and awareness for well-designed, outstanding Platinum pieces," said Jenny Luker, PGI's senior vice president.

Judging will take place in the first three days of the show and winners will be announced on the fourth day and awarded their official Platinum Couture Style Challenge trophies.

PGI-USA will also publicise the winners and each category winner will be highlighted in at least two of PGI's consumer media programmes this year.
