MTI MicroFuel Cells has received an additional $500,000 of funding from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for the development of manufacturing techniques and the optimisation of MTI Micro's unique Mobion technolohy.
Peng Lim, Chief Executive Officer of MTI MicroFuel Cells, said: "With DOE's support, we have begun our manufacturing readiness phase and the establishment of a developmental pilot production line to advance Mobion manufacturing techniques."
He also said that the funding would allow it to increase "the number of units produced to satisfy potential and existing customers, and allow for more expansive testing with the delivery of larger quantities".
The funding comes as part of a cost shared development contract originally granted in 2004.
The funding will also allow the products to be prepared for launch and Mr Lim said: "This additional funding will help to provide us with resources to continue working on our manufacturing readiness plan in 2008, ramping up to product launch in 2009."
