SEG-GSSA 2008 Conference - Johannesburg, South Africa 5th July 2008 to 10th July 2008

Welcome to the jointly hosted SEG-GSSA 2008 Conference to be held 5 - 10 July 2008 at the rustic, yet luxurious, Misty Hills conference venue, Johannesburg, South Africa.

In organising this conference we are merging the highly successful GSSA Geoforum and the SEG biannual conferences.  The theme of the conference is: “Africa Uncovered – Mineral Resources for the Future”, showcasing Africa’s major mineral deposits. It will cover the economic geology, exploration and commercial aspects of Africa’s major and emerging gold, platinum and diamond deposits as well as base and ferrous alloy metals. Particular focus will be given to doing business in Africa, exploration and the geology and development of Africa’s energy resources.

Johannesburg, also known as eGoli, the City of Gold, is the nucleus of the South African minerals industry and home to many of the world’s great mining companies. It is a modern city driving a developing country which is the powerhouse of the reviving economies of the African continent.

The programme combines comprehensive coverage of all the thematic areas, hosted and presented by worldwide experts and will include workshops and field trips.
