Ruthenium demand slows in magnetic media 20th June 2007
The magnetic media market has had a major impact on ruthenium, by reducing demand for the metal, it has been suggested.
It has been claimed that the fall in demand for ruthenium in the magnetic media market could lead to a lowering in the cost or a reduction in the market inventory cost of the platinum group metal (pgm) over the course of the year.
Brush Engineered Materials, which supplies a range of precious metal products across the globe, believes that softer magnetic media market conditions have had an important effect on the price of refined and recycled ruthenium.
Demand for ruthenium from the magnetic media market is slowing as the sector suffers a downturn, resulting in Brush Engineered Materials to lower its outlook for the second quarter of the year.
