Singer Marc Anthony has given his Latino superstar wife Jennifer Lopez a lavish platinum ring to celebrate the couple's first wedding anniversary.

Celebrating their wedding anniversary last Sunday, Anthony reportedly marked the occasion with a $5 million engagement ring.

The couple were never officially engaged and the romantic husband thought it would be nice gesture for their first anniversary using a stylish platinum piece from Neil Lane.

"It sounds a little odd, but Marc and Jennifer were never really engaged - they just got married. So, to mark their first anniversary, Marc officially proposed, this time presenting Jennifer with an engagement ring from jeweller to the stars Neil Lane," a friend of the couple said.

"It's huge, and it sparkles beyond belief. Jennifer was very excited to get it."

The ring reportedly features a blue 14.5-carat diamond set on a platinum band and is valued at more than $5 million, according to Radar Magazine.

Neil Lane is well known among celebrities for his platinum pieces and has decked out the glitterati at both the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

In January platinum jewellery was very much en vogue at the 62nd annual Golden Globe Awards, with Kate Winslet showing off a platinum and diamond ring from Neil Lane's collection, while Nicolette Sheridan, Jennifer Garner and Joely Richardson could also be seen draped in items designed by the celebrated jeweller.
