Golden Globe stars sparkle in platinum 19th January 2005

Platinum jewellery was en vogue at the 62nd annual Golden Globe Awards at the weekend, as Hollywood's glitterati showed off their wares.

Movie stars and celebrities adorned the latest platinum trends to add the finishing touch to their star-status red carpet looks.

Glittering long, linier, drop earrings, vintage brooches and right hand rings, boasting a variety of gemstones or brilliant diamonds were all to be seen courtesy of Platinum Guild International (PGI) and a raft of well-known platinum designers.

Kate Winslet wore four stunning platinum and diamond bracelets, drop earrings, and a platinum and diamond ring from Neil Lane's collection.

Nicolette Sheridan, Jennifer Garner and Joely Richardson could also be seen draped in items designed by the celebrated jeweler.

Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx sported a platinum and diamond Aire Traveler watch by the 'King of Bling', Chris Aire.

Pieces from Martin Katz, the celebrity's favourite, were also on display with Ashley Judd opting for a vintage platinum and diamond with green enamel drop earrings.

Michael O'Connor, senior vice president of PGI, expressed delight at the number of platinum pieces on display.

"PGI was exceptionally happy to see so many celebrities and their stylists have such a tremendous interest in dressing in one of the world's most precious and rare metals at this year's red carpet jewellery suite" he said.

"It is becoming increasingly evident that platinum jewellery is important part of the red carpet trends."
